NavSkills™ training solution is the service dedicated to maritime training centers and ship owners, who are looking to establish their own training facilities in full compliance with STCW and IMO standards easily and efficiently.

NavSkills™ provides you with training environment where you can provide navigation training from the day one.

The concept is based on the training expertise, which FURUNO achieved through the operation of FURUNO INS Training Center since 2005. The training exercises and training models have been created in accordance with IMO Model courses. To support the training courses an INS simulation solution has been developed, which provides the navigators around the world with knowledge and understanding of the operation of sophisticated bridge equipment and bridge systems.

The NavSkills™ training solution allows you to certify the trainees in accordance with IMO and STCW standards.

The NavSkills™ training solution is more than just a simulation solution it is a turnkey training solution including training concept and certification by DNV SeaSkill™ for ECDIS and IBS/INS courses.

General overview of NavSkills™

You obtain the ability to conduct certified ECDIS and IBS/INS training courses, and you will have the experienced staff of FURUNO INS Training Center to back you up in the implementation of the training and operation of the training center.

The solution is cost effective and provides your instructors with the experience and competences established by FURUNO's own instructors through the instructor training, where our instructors will share their knowledge with your instructors.

We will provide you with our training materials together with semiannual updates on the examination contents and teach your instructors how to use them in their daily training.

You will have a full mission simulator with voyage planning stations at your disposal.

We will take care of DNV Seaskill™ certification of the training courses covered by the NavSkills™ concept.

  • A full mission simulator with a standard 240-degree view equipped with real navigation equipment like ECDIS, radar, track pilots, etc., and in full compliance with DNV requirements for Class "A" simulators (Other simulator viewing angles available upon client request)
  • Certification of the ECDIS and IND training courses by DNV SeaSkill™, which allows you to conduct certified training.
    • Training syllabus and material for the following training courses:
    • IMO ECDIS Model Course 1.27 (certified by DNV SeaSkill™)
    • IMO IBS/INS Model Course 1.32 (certified by DNV SeaSkill™)
    • Bridge Resource Management (BRM) Training Course (basic) in accordance with STCW requirements
    • Bridge Resource Management (BRM) Training Course (refresh) in accordance with STCW requirements
    • Engine Resource Management (ERM) Training Course (basic) in accordance with STCW requirements
    • Engine Resource Management (ERM) Training Course (refresh) in accordance with STCW requirements
    • Bridge Team Management (BTM) training course
  • Updates for all training courses covered by the NavSkills™ solution.
  • Access to all new training courses developed by FURUNO INS Training Center.
  • Education of your own instructors to be able to conduct the above mentioned training courses.
  • Renewal of certification for the training courses in accordance with DNV certification scheme.
  • Service and maintenance agreement for the simulator system.
